Yankees third-basemen Alex Rodriguez has been a lightning rod since the turn of the month. A-Rod's bat has a tendency to go quiet once the playoffs begin, and this year it has been no exception. He has been moved down in the lineup and even benched one game. The team and fans alike have not been pleased with the performance, especially because he makes over twenty-million dollars per year.

That is why this story comes as such a shock to just about everyone. During the game a few nights ago, after Rodriguez was replaced, instead of being focused on the game at hand, he decided to take the opportunity to try to pick up a couple of female Yankee fans sitting near the dugout.

According to the New York Post,

Instead of rooting on his teammates as they struggled to stay alive during the tense game at Yankee Stadium, A-Rod, 37, had a ball boy toss the young women a baseball inscribed with a message asking for their numbers.

Yankee fans are in an uproar after hearing about this, and rightfully so. When you make that much money and play in the biggest sports market in the world, you can't possibly think you can do that and get away with it right?

Putting aside Alex Rodriguez's poor timing, as a man he deserves credit for being rather smooth in his pick up attempt. Does A-Rod's shenanigans beat your best pick up story? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
