After Route 287 crash, 2 may have been dead alongside road for hours

New Jersey State Police are investigating a double fatal crash on Route 287 in Mahwah.

A blue Lexus was discovered overturned off the side of the heavily wooded area near Route 208 by a New Jersey Department of Transportation employee around 9:15 a.m. Monday morning, according to police.T wo men appear to have been ejected from the sedan.

The Daily Voice reported authorities said the car hit several trees and overturned.

State Police said that the car may have gone the road sometime during the overnight hours. The car was discovered at 9:17 a.m.

Police have not yet released the name of the two men.

The State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Authorities say anyone with information about the incident should call the New Jersey State Police Totowa Station at 973-785-9419.
