Fresh off what would have been John Lennon’s 74th birthday comes a play called “Lennon Through A Glass Onion.” The play takes the songs and essence of the man who started the Beatles and and puts them into a concert with stories and anecdotes between the songs.

Australian singer John Waters and Stewart D’Arrietta bring Lennon to life without the use of makeup. Waters, who captures Lennon’s personality and mannerisms as well, spoke with me on Thursday night about what it’s like playing Lennon and how it’s changed him. You can hear the entire interview in the video below.

Lennon Through a Glass Onion" opens on October 15th and plays through February 22nd at the Union Square Theatre in New York.
