AC Expressway tolls will be taken care of for a portion of Tuesday in October
The Atlantic City Alliance will pay the tolls every Tuesday in October for those coming into the city.
"Toll Free Tuesday" will be in effect on the eastbound Atlantic City Expressway at the Egg Harbor ($3.75) and Pleasantville (75 cents) between 12noon and midnight every Tuesday in October.
Alliance spokesman Jeff Guaracino tells the Press of Atlantic City that while the savings aren't huge, it's a “psychological and marketing tool" symbolic of the city's tourist-friendly attitude.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority is making a sponsorship plan available for companies in an effort to help tourism.
“The authority is keenly interested in supporting events that promote tourism as well as economic benefits to the region,” the agency told the newspaper in a statement.
It's the second time this year a second party has taken care of the eastbound tolls. The Chickie and Pete's sports bar paid for tolls for one hour on the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend at the cost of $13,000.
