About 2,500 people remained without power Saturday night after storms walloped much of New Jersey with heavy winds and rain.

The storms caused flooding throughout low-lying areas, particularly along the Shore in central and southern New Jersey — at one point dislodging an entire house from its pilings in Middle Township.

Heavy rain was expected to remain throughout the weekend. Winds should subside some Sunday, as Hurricane Joaquin moves further away from the East Coast, Meteorologist Dan Zarrow reports.y

Earlier in the day, about 3,600 were without power in spots scattered throughout the state, according to JCP&L, PSE&G and Atlantic City Electric.
