Back when I first him perform with his brothers on the Hollywood Palace on a snowy December night in 1969, I knew he was destined for greatness.

Michael Jackson, who along with his brothers launched a dynasty – began the long sojourn that culminated in his being crowned the King of Pop.

And despite his death on June 25th, 2009 at the age of 50, more new material will be released – this from his archives with an updated sound from some of todays biggest producers and performers.

According to the BBC: the album, entitled "Xscape," featuring 8 new tracks, will be released on May 13th.

Titled Xscape, the track listing was chosen by Epic Records chairman LA Reid, who trawled through four decades of Jackson's demos and off-cuts.

The tracks were then updated by the likes of Timbaland, who works with Justin Timberlake, and Stargate, who have produced Rihanna and Beyonce.

Reid called the process of reworking the songs "contemporizing".
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of Jackson's estate said: "Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds.

And it’s likely this 8-track-set might not be the last we hear from him.

I’m guessing there will be other cuts to be released at some point with others trying to “contemporize” Michael Jackson – but still, the “standards” he’s released over the years, for me, and I’m sure for you too, probably stand the test of time.
