Dry air and high pressure will deliver sunny skies, seasonable temperatures, and comfortable conditions for much of this week.

Here are your weather headlines for Tuesday, August 25, 2015...

Frontal Passage

As of this writing, a cold front is draped just west of New Jersey. Meanwhile, dew points in New Jersey this morning are in the sticky 70s. Behind the front, they are in the 50s: much drier and more comfortable air!

A few spot showers and storms have popped up in Jersey this morning, but they are very widely scattered and on the light side. Until the front passes later today, those light rain chances will continue.

By mid to late afternoon, the front should be through the state, and we should be able to enjoy the drier air and sunnier skies. Temperatures will still be on the very warm side today, in the mid to upper 80s.

Dry, Mild Week

The end result of the front will be that dry air, and a large area of high pressure settling over New Jersey through the rest of the workweek. So, we'll get to enjoy a stretch of consistently nice weather; I'd argue that this week will likely go down as one of the nicest of the summer. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will feature comfortably cool mornings (lower 60s, some 50s), mostly sunny skies, and seasonable afternoon temperatures (highs generally in the lower 80s). Rain chances are slim.

Frankly, the forecast for the next week (or two?) looks pretty boring. (Not a bad thing at all!) However, increasing humidity and a passing impulse could spell rain chances for this weekend. At this time, the best chance for showers will be Saturday night through Sunday. Nothing heavy predicted here, and there's still plenty of time for that forecast to change for the better.

Down in the Tropics

Danny is no more - the system was downgraded to a Tropical Depression yesterday, before dissipating altogether. But, as I mentioned yesterday, the tropical wave behind Danny was likely to develop... and it has!

We welcome Tropical Storm Erika to the Atlantic basin. Erika is expected to reach the Leeward Islands, the same area of the eastern Caribbean that Danny hit, by early Thursday morning. The storm track pushes Erika toward the Bahamas this weekend. We're definitely not letting our guard down, as the storm is expected to come very close to the eastern seaboard of the U.S.
