Aug 25th marked the 40th anniversary of the release of Bruce Springsteen’s iconic album ‘Born To Run.” I asked some of my local Bruce buddies what their favorite Bruce songs were.

Here are some of their responses:

Rock n Roll Hall Of Famer and former E Street Drummer Vini “Mad Dog “ Lopez, who now plays in the band Dawg Whistle, says:

“ My favorite is 'Sandy,' I always think of Danny Federici. It was his favorite also”

Tom Cunningham (pictured above), who hosts The Bruce Brunch airing Sunday morning on our sister station 1057 The Hawk, chose "Incident On 57th Street, it has been my favorite since 1973.”

Glenn Stuart, lead singer of “The B Street Band,” says:

“'Thunder Road' is my favorite to play. Also enjoy playing 'American Land,' 'Ghost of Tom Joad,' and 'Wild Billy’s Circus Story,' but I’m weird like that.”

My personal favorite Bruce song is “Backstreets.” It reminds me of growing up with Glenn Stuart in Marlboro. Those memories of our youth were brought to light in Sea Isle City this summer when Stuart dedicated a performance of the song to me. Funny I thought, I was thinking the same thing.
