A Hamilton man has been arrested in connection with two reported sexual assaults involving female students being touched inappropriately as they slept.

An email was sent to students from Anthony Campbell, associate vice president for student affairs and the dean of students late Friday with word that Jon Cannon, who is not a Rider student, had been arrested.

The 24-year-old was charged by Lawrence Township Police with 2 counts burglary, 1 count criminal sexual contact, 1 count harassment offense touching and 1 count trespassing. Bail was set at $130,000.

Two incidents took place in a dorm in West Village B, according to the Rider News. The first was on Sept. 11 at 3:15 a.m., when someone touched a visiting female sleeping in a common area on the shoulder. She screamed and the person ran off, according to the report.

The second incident was on Sept. 27, when a sleeping woman was touched on her breast in her dorm room, the report said.

A third incident on Sept. 18 in Poyda Hall was reported to Lawrence Township Police but was unfounded, according to the report.

Campbell in his email announcing the arrest called the collaboration between students, staff, faculty and others "a true team effort" that addressed questions and concerns about the incidents.
