Americans are nowhere near the top in the Happiness Index. We come in 14th. The happiest people live in Panama, followed by Costa Rica, Denmark, Austria, and Brazil. This according to an article by Live Science.

Coming in last in the survey in a tie, are Afghanistan and Syria. The Gallup survey looked at five categories of happiness: “having purpose, being physically healthy, being financially secure, having supportive social relationships, and being satisfied with the community.” A total of 135 countries were surveyed.
