In an Ames, Iowa Wal-Mart Supercenter, and at Wal-Marts across the country, they are checking IDs not just of the person buying alcohol but of everyone in your group. So when 57 year old Jim Davis was shopping with his 15 year old daughter and picked up 2 six packs of beer and some Smirnoff for his wife, they didn't card him even though he was clearly the one buying it. They carded his 15 year old daughter instead. Because the teen had no ID, they refused to sell to the 57 year old man. Jim is outraged, as am I. Wal-Mart says this is an experimental initiative to thwart underage drinking. "Stores may ask for the ID from individuals within a group other than the person making the purchase," reads a customer service statement.

Yeah, if there's a 15 year old girl with a guy who's 21 but looks 19, okay I can see it, maybe. When it's clearly a father with his daughter it becomes ridiculous. Let's consider this a failed experiment. Jim, who calculated his family had spent $3,000 at that store this year has already vowed to never shop there again. He's not the only one complaining. Would you?
