According to the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD), the funding will be used to employ job-seekers for projects in Monmouth County, as well as in state parks and other public properties.

The new round of money adds to the initial $15.6 National Emergency Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, sent to New Jersey immediately after Sandy, which was directed toward a plan to employ 1,000 people for temporary cleanup and recovery jobs. Approximately 95 people are still working under the first grant, LWD indicated.

Job-seekers interested in a temporary job under the grant can apply by sending an e-mail to: sandyhelp@dol.state.nj.us or by calling (609) 777-1836 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
