In black-and-white surveillance footage released by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, a man in light clothing and a hood is seen approaching Lucila Cardenas-Viejo's door. Authorities are hoping someone recognizes the man, described as a person of interest in the case

On Feb. 7 at about 10:31 a.m., Jersey City Police were dispatched to a Lexington Avenue residence on a report of an unresponsive elderly female, later identified as Cardenas-Viejo, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Police found Cardenas-Viejo on the floor of her living room, unresponsive, with multiple blunt and sharp force injuries, the prosecutor's office said. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:53 a.m.

Video surveillance footage picked up the person now being sought, apparently, trying to gain entry to her residence, the prosecutor's office said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the case to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345, or to leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office official website.
