8-year-old’s death considered ‘suspicious,’ authorities say

NEWARK — Prosecutors in Essex County have taken over an investigation into the death of an 8-year-old boy.

The child wasn't breathing when police responded to the Munn Avenue address just before 10 a.m. Sunday, NJ.com reported. The article states that the child's death is being probed by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, which has labeled it "suspicious," Katherine Carter, a spokesperson for the prosecutor, said in an email to NJ.com.

No additional information regarding the incident has been released by authorities.
