I’m listening to Jim Gearhart take calls against a proposed Hard Rock casino in the Meadowlands and I couldn’t disagree more.

I think a North Jersey casino would be a great idea for a number of reasons. One, it will provide 10,000 jobs which would help roughly 6,000 workers who lost their jobs when  casinos started closing in Atlantic City.

The proposed plan will also compete with New York for the entertainment dollar. Tourists visiting the NYC be much more likely to venture over to NJ with a casino right in the Meadowlands versus driving all the way to Atlantic City or the Poconos.

So if you’re providing jobs, taking money away from New York and keeping people in the area who would spend money elsewhere, what could be wrong with that?

What do think? Do you think a hotel/casino in the Meadowlands would be a good idea? Discuss in the comment section below.
