According to a press release from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, officers responded responded to a pedestrian motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:14 am on Fernwood Avenue in the area of Oakland Avenue, in the Bargaintown section of the township.

Police say Thomas Kinzer, 35, was using a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck to pull a trailer from the rear of the property, while his son was in the front yard operating a small motorized toy tractor.

"The child wound up driving the tractor into the path of the father’s vehicle. The father did not see the child and ran him over which caused serious injury," police said in the press release.

According to authorities, the child was initially treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. Due to the extent of his injuries, however, the child ended up being flown by PennStar 2 medivac helicopter to Cooper Regional Trauma Center.

This crash is under investigation by Officer Kevin Devlin and Officer Louis Poletis of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. According to Lt. Robert Gray, public information officer for the department, no charges have been filed and as the investigation is ongoing, he could not say if the child's father will face any charges.
