LAKEWOOD — Police in Ocean County arrested five people and seized more than 6,000 doses of heroin, along with other drugs, at least $90,000 and a sub machine gun following a two-month investigation into illegal drug activity in multiple jurisdictions.

The multi-jurisdictional investigation identified a residence in Jackson Township and another in Lakewood as being used to store and distribute heroin.

Police say on Sept. 1, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along withh members of the Lakewood and Jackson Township police departments and the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department attempted to make a motor vehicle stop on a 2009 black Maxima driven by Michael Lewis, 31 of Jackson in the area Chestnut Street and Route 9 in Lakewood. Lewis initially attempted to elude police before pulling over.

During a search of his car, police recovered nearly 1,800 hits of heroin and a quantity of cocaine. Lewis then placed under arrest.

Police later executed a search warrant at Lewis' Arcadia Court home in Jackson which led to the seizure of quantities of illegal steroids, prescription pills, marijuana and approximately $20,000 in cash. Prior to searching the home, a woman identified as Megan Crudup, 24, was seen leaving the house and also placed under arrest, police said.

As investigators were searching the Arcadia Court home, police saw a 2015 red Honda Civic leaving the area of Davina Court in Lakewood, where suspected drug activity was believed to have taken place, police said. The Honda was occupied by three individuals identified as Sherod Coleman, 32 of Davina Court, Diane Hunt, 53 and Sabrina Henderson, 34 both of Brick Township. Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on the  Honda Civic and during a search of the vehicle, discovered about 4,450 doses of heroin and a Mac 10 sub machine gun along with a loaded high capacity magazine. All three occupants of the car were placed under arrest, authorities said.

Following the motor vehicle stop and subsequent arrests, the Lakewood Police SWAT Team executed a search warrant at the Davina Court home, resulting in the seizure of approximately $2,400 in cash.

During the investigation, police also found that a safety deposit box was being used by  Lewis to store the profits from his illegal drug distribution activities. Police obtained a search warrant for the box and seized approximately $70,000 in cash.

Police also seized a 2014 Chevrolet Impala and a 2009 black Nissan Maxima along with the 2015 Honda Civic, pending forfeiture proceedings.
