Divers Find Woman’s Body In Capisized Italian Ship [VIDEO]

Italian Coast Guard divers have found a woman's body in a corridor of a submerged section of the capsized Costa Concordia, raising to at least 12 the number of dead in the cruise liner accident.

Coast Guard Cmdr. Cosimo Nicastro told The Associated Press that the body, wearing a life jacket, was found in a narrow corridor near an evacuation staging point at the ship's rear Saturday.

The body was brought to Giglio, the Tuscan island where the cruise liner hit a reef and ran aground on Jan. 14. Twenty people are missing.

Officials confirm light fuel near ship

Italian officials have confirmed the presence of light fuel in the sea around the capsized Costa Concordia that appears to have come from machinery on the ship.

However, Coast Guard spokesman Cmdr. Cosimo Nicastro says there is no indication that any of the nearly half-million gallons (2,200 metric tons) of fuel oil has leaked from the ship's double-bottomed tanks.

Nicastro said Saturday that the leaked substance appears to be diesel, which is used in rescue boats or as lubricants on machinery. There are 185 tons of diesel and lubricants on board. He described its presence in the sea as "very light, very superficial" and appearing to be under control.

Crews were removing oil-absorbing booms used to prevent environmental damage in case of a leak. Originally white, the booms were grayish.
