The captain of the 32-foot boat Slashbacks contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders around 11:30 p.m. Sunday to report that the boat had lost power while towing a 31-foot boat, Lady Jane, through the inlet. That caused the tow line to part and both boats became grounded on the inlet's southern jetty.

Three people were stranded on the jetty, while another was stuck aboard the Slashbacks.

A 47-foot motor life boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet rescued the person aboard the boat, while Point Pleasant police officers rescued the people from the jetty. None of the four were injured.
