4 More Rutgers Students Charged After Rowdy Party
Four more Rutgers University students face charges stemming from a rowdy street party last month where people brawled and set couches and mattresses on fire.
New Brunswick Police announced Tuesday that they have criminally charged eight students overall and issued 16 additional summonses.
The charges include aggravated assault on police, disorderly conduct, weapons offenses, riot and arson. Seven of the students are from New Jersey and one is from Virginia.
New Brunswick police had arrested three students while breaking up the party on April 13 and Rutgers police arrested one. No injuries were reported.
Authorities have said officers were hit by bottles allegedly thrown by partygoers, and people set furniture on fire. Photos and video show police in riot gear carrying pepper spray.
