Three men have been indicted by a grand jury in Union County in connection with a fatal shooting that took place last summer in Rahway, authorities said Wednesday.

"Quincy Oliver, 22, of Rahway, Tyrell Dekle, 22, of Woodbridge and James C. Sears, 23, of East Orange, a confirmed member of the Piru set of the Bloods street gang, all are charged with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and two second-degree weapons offenses in connection with the death of 21-year-old Nigel Morton of Rahway," acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park said Wednesday.

Authorities said the incident took place on June 8, 2015, just after 10 p.m. The victim upon answering the front door of his Westfield Avenue home, was shot once in the chest and died of his injuries at a local hospital the following morning.

Following a joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Rahway Police Department, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Identification Unit Oliver, Dekle and were identified as suspects. Oliver was arrested and charged in July, Dekle and Sears were charged in October, the prosecutor said in a press release Wednesday.

If convicted of first degree murder, the suspects could face a penalty of 30 years to life in state prison.
