3 charged after stolen car almost hits unmarked police car
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Three people face charges after the stolen car they were in nearly hit an unmarked police vehicle in New Jersey's capital city.
Trenton police say detectives were on patrol early Sunday when they suddenly had to swerve to avoid colliding with a car driven by 21-year-old Justin Shelton of Hamilton.
The car was soon stopped, and authorities discovered it had been reported stolen. They also allegedly found a $50 bill in the center console containing marijuana and cocaine.
Shelton and two others in the car -- 22-year-old Trenton resident Otis Roberts and a 16-year-old boy -- were all arrested on charges of receiving stolen property. Shelton and the teen also face drug charges.
It wasn't known Monday if any of three have retained attorneys.
