EDISON — Several traffic accidents along Route 287 added to an already miserable, wet commute on Tuesday afternoon.

At noon, a tractor trailer that hit the median on the southbound side near Route 1 blocked two lanes, according to State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez. The driver suffered some minor injuries and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, according to Goez, who did not disclose the driver's identity.

There was also a small fuel leak that was part of the cleanup.

Goez said the truck was the only vehicle involved and the incident remains under investigation.

As traffic backed up, Goez said a second tractor trailer lost some parts on the shoulder about a mile before Route 1, but the truck was able to leave on its own.

A third crash at Exit 4 for Durham Road also caused delays through South Plainfield.
