22 Charged in Multi-State License Fraud Ring
Federal authorities in New Jersey say 22 people have been charged in a multistate scheme to provide counterfeit documents, mostly to illegal immigrants from South Korea, so they could get driver’s licenses, student visas and other IDs.
Authorities say the 22 people charged are based in New York, California, Nevada, Virginia and Georgia as well as New Jersey.
Seventeen had been arrested as of Wednesday afternoon. New Jersey FBI chief Michael Ward says a cooperating witness was able to infiltrate the group and make purchases and record conversations.
