21 Indicted Following NJ Heroin Raid

Twenty-one people have been indicted following the disruption of what law enforcement officials say was a high-volume heroin distribution network.

New Jersey's attorney general said Thursday that Derek Fuqua has been charged with several counts, including leading a narcotics trafficking network.

The 36-year-old Piscataway resident allegedly used friends and relatives to distribute the drug in Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer, Monmouth and Hudson counties.

A message left for Fuqua's attorney was not immediately returned.

Dozens of law enforcement agencies participated in the April 2013 raid that resulted in the seizure of more than $250,000 in drugs, about $150,000 in cash, six guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Twenty other people face charges of conspiracy and money laundering for allegedly assisting in the heroin ring.

Fuqua could face life in prison.
