As of 10:15AM on Saturday morning, just under 1500 customers are still without power according to the ACE outage map, a week after violent storms early Saturday morning toppled trees and power lines plunging 206,000 customers into darkness.

The utility says they have 1400 workers on duty all weekend to restore power to Buena, Linwood, Mizpah, Northfield which suffered “heavy localized storm damage that is making repairs much more labor intensive.”

“Restoring service to these remaining customers is especially challenging as the time involved to make repairs can be as lengthy as it is when restoring larger numbers of customers. Also more system damage may be discovered deeper into a neighborhood that requires additional repair work,” explained ACE in a press release.

They also want customers without power to continue reporting outages by calling 1-800-833-7476 and requesting call backs.

Customers who will spend a second weekend without power should have received a phone call by 9 p.m. Friday, July 6.

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have begun initial inspections of Atlantic & Cumberland counties, the first step towards the state asking for the area to be declared a federal disaster area and making reimbursement available to communities and repair dollars available to residents according to the Press of Atlantic City.

No application process is yet in place and FEMA has no other presence in the area.

Atlantic County Public Safety’s website says  ice and water will be distributed to residents on Saturday from 8AM-4PM  at the Canale Training Center, 5033 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township
