TRENTON — Two women lost their lives on New Jersey highways early Saturday morning.

A woman died after her Nissan Maxima hit a tractor trailer on southbound Route 295 in Cherry Hill near Route 70 around 4:20 a.m., according to State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez. The woman was taken to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt, according to Goez, who did not disclose the identity of either person.

6 ABC Action News reported the woman hit the tractor trailer while it was parked on the shoulder.

In Passaic County, Zaira Rijos-Laureano, 37, of Haledon, died when she was ejected from a Jeep that ran off Route 80 in Wayne near Exit 53 just before 4 a.m.

Rijos-Laurean was thrown onto the eastbound lanes and pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Hospital in Paterson for minor injuries, according to Goez.

Investigations continue into both incidents.
