FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (Somerset) — A two-car crash on Christmas afternoon trapped a woman in her car, but none of the victims — including two young children — suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said Jennifer Peralta, 30, of New Brunswick, drove her 2009 Honda Civic into a Hyundai Santa Fe at the intersection of Route 27 and Henry Street. Police were called 4:14 p.m.

Peralta was driving south on the highway and had a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl in her vehicle.

The Hyundai driver, Tracy Gaines, 54, of this township’s Somerset section, ended up trapped. Firefighters pulled her out and she complained of neck and head pain. Her two adult passengers were uninjured, police said Monday.

Peralta had injuries to her arms and legs, while the boy was hurt in his face and the girl was hurt in her head, police said. They were all transported to the hospital by Robert Wood Johnson EMS.

Police have not charged any driver with a crime or moving violation.
