GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP — Two Glassboro men were arrested in connection with 17 "smash-and-grab" burglaries following an investigation involving 10 different law enforcement agencies.

Habib R. Brown, 18 and Daquan Stratton, 20, have been charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, according to a statement from Gloucester police.

Police say the two men are allegedly responsible for at least 17 burglaries in three counties.

"Since the end of May there have been numerous 'smash and grab' style burglaries to businesses, mostly liquor stores, in Camden, Gloucester and Burlington County," police said. "Gloucester Township had two burglaries occur at the Canals liquor store and one at Blackwood Liquors."

Several agencies participated in the investigation, including Gloucester Township Police Department, Camden County Prosecutors Office, New Jersey State Police, Berlin Boro Police Department, Haddon Township Police Department, Cherry Hill Police Department, Evesham Township Police Department, Mount Laurel Police Department, Glassboro Police Department and Deptford Police Department.Police say they formed a task force and after discovering evidence in Gloucester Township leading to the identification of one of the suspects, determined the same suspects were involved in 17 burglaries.

Police then began surveillance of the suspects. Officers from the task force followed then to Hainesport in Burlington County, where they were observed burglarizing a car wash, authorities said in a statement.

According to police, the suspects were arrested as they exited the burglary scene on foot. A third person fled the area in a getaway car and was later stopped by police in Cherry Hill, authorities said. Gloucester Township Public Information Officer Lt. Brendan Barton said Gloucester police did not charge the third suspect.

Brown and Stratton were transported to Burlington County jail on $150,000 bail.
