Two people have been arrested after a 7-year-old girl was killed in an alleged hit-and-run crash, CBS reports.

According to the report, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrests Tuesday morning, but has not yet released any more information about who was arrested or what charges they face.

Police had said Monday they were looking for a black Chevrolet Tahoe used in the crash.

Hudson County Deputy Chief Prosecutor Leo Hernandez had told NJ Advance Media the girl and her mother were both crossing the street when they were hit by the a SUV, which sped up as it headed down 61st Street.

“You can run, but you can’t hide,” Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari said at a press conference Monday afternoon, according to the news organization, which reported that police were looking at surveillance video that showed the Tahoe after the accident.

According to the CBS report, authorities said the video showed the driver get out of the SUV, look at the girl's body, then get back in the vehicle and drive away.The girl’s mother was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The girl has been identified in multiple reports as Sheyla Pichardo, a student at P.S. 1 in West New York.
