A story from Minnesota's WCCO is hard to believe. A high rise apartment building with balconies was the scene of what one hospital doctor is calling divine intervention. A 15 month old child slipped through the 5 and a half inch gap between bars of the family's 11th floor balcony. There was nothing slowing the fall. The child hit the ground covered only by a very thin layer of mulch. That's it.

From 11 stories up the laws of physics say that shouldn't matter at all. He should be dead, but he's alive. Fractured bones in several places, but nothing else. No serious brain injury either. I used to live in the Rahway Plaza apartments with my dad on the 11th floor. I remember looking down from that balcony thinking how awful and certain a death that would be. However it happened, that is one lucky little guy.
