145 reasons to support a military family with Townsquare Cares
Every one of the people listed below is a New Jersey hero. Each of them died in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There's Army Spc. Anthony J. Dixon, 20, of Lindenwold. He'd joined the Army to raise money to pay for college. He was killed by an IED, near his guard post in Samarra, Iraq in 2004.
There's Army 1st Lt. Ashley Henderson Huff, a 23-year-old from Belle Mead who died in 2006 after suicide vehicle-borne IED detonated near her mounted patrol in Mosul, Iraq.
There's Army Pfc. Min S. Choi, a 21-year-old originally from South Korea and living in Rivervale before he was deployed. He wasn't yet a U.S. citizen, but had told loved ones he was proud for the chance to serve, according to newspaper reports at the time. He died just one month after he was deployed when an IED detonated near his patrol in Abertha, Iraq in 2005 — and was later posthumously awarded his citizenship.
All of them risked everything by choosing to serve. All of their stories were cut short so that the lives of others could go on. And they're far from alone — they're among thousands upon thousands from New Jersey who've served and died in other conflicts.
They're brothers and sisters to the men and women serving now — brave service members taking the same risk, every day, of never coming home.
Here, at New Jersey 101.5, we want to thank our enlisted men and women and their families for their sacrifices in New Jersey who sacrifice so much for all of us all year long. Now through Veterans Day – Nov. 11 – we’re supporting “Townsquare Cares for Military Families."
Here’s how you can help: Townsquare Cares is a non-profit organization that betters the lives of troops and their families 24/7, 365 days a year. We all owe our deepest gratitude to these people.
Click here to make a cash donation. Any amount helps. Townsquare Cares will put everyone’s donations together and get money to families of actively deployed troops — right here in our area – to help those families have a brighter, easier holiday season.
If you've got a family member deployed, we want to hear your story. We’ll select several families from right here in New Jersey to receive $500, just in time for the holidays. Just fill out the form at this link.
