It's been just over two years since 31-year-old Lateshia Townes suffered a fatal gunshot wound while riding as a passenger in a car in Newark, and her killer remains at large.

As authorities in Essex County continue to investigate clues surrounding the shooting, a $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of Townes' murderer.

The reward is being offered through Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crimestoppers Program.

According to authorities, on May 31, 2014 Townes was a passenger in a 2006 Silver Dodge Charger that was traveling southbound on South 20th Street in Newark. Authorities say at about 3:30 p.m. Townes was shot in front of 765 South 20th Street.

Towns was hospitalized but succumbed to her injuries on June 2, 2014.

Police are continuing to investigate the woman's murder and are asking for friends of the victim or anyone with information to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/ Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
