Phillies legend Larry Bowa, responding to Gov. Chris Christie's comments about the Phillies and their fans on Sports New York, told CSN Philly 's John Clark, "If Chris Christie wants to come down here and take some ground balls, I'll be glad to hit him some. He needs a lot of work."

“The Phillies suck, let’s just start with that," Christie said on the show. "They’re from Philadelphia, they’re an awful team, they’re an angry bitter fan base, and it’s not safe for civilized people to go to Citizens Bank Park if you want to root for the other team.”

In response to the New Jersey governor's comments, the Phillies responded on Twitter:

If the Phillies held a "Governor Christie Day," what would you give kids ages 14 and under?
One of my followers on social media suggested having it on "Bat Day," while others had a some different suggestions.
