Toms River Police say a man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Indian Head Road, and another male remains in critical condition following a separate crash in the township.

Investigators from the police department responded to two separate motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians that were struck. According to a press release from the Toms River PD, the first accident took place at 7:31 p.m. A male pedestrian was crossing Indian Head Road at Green Drive when he was struck by an eastbound 2013 Chevrolet Camaro.

"He was killed instantly as a result of the incident," police said in the release.

The second crash took place at 7:47 p.m. According to police, a 2014 Dodge Ram was traveling west on Route 37. The vehicle struck a male pedestrian that was crossing the highway at Coolidge Avenue.

"He was transported to Community Medical Center and is listed in critical condition," police reported.

Authorities did not release the names or any additional information on the victims, but have said more information on the two crashes will be available Wednesday. The investigations are ongoing.
