Prepare for gridlock --- at the height of rush hour heading into Manhattan this Thursday, the Jersey gas station that's closest to the Holland tunnel is planning to reduce gas prices by as much as $1.84 a gallon. The price reduction takes place at the Newport Exxon on Jersey Avenue and 12th at 7 a.m. The New Jersey Gasoline, C-store, Automotive Association (NJGCA) says it's to show that the dramatic rise in gas prices in just four years, not only hurts motorist but gas station owners by forcing them to cut into their profit margin in order to remain competitive.

Last month 57 Lukoil stations staged a similar protest by raising gas prices to well over $8 a gallon to protest what they believe are unfairly high wholesale pricing practices by Lukoil North America.
